This Day: Visit us each day for a contemplative experience – an image, a Scripture reading, a quotation from Fruit of the Vine, a query, and a poem-prayer. On Saturday each week, we will feature an excerpted Quaker testimony. On Sunday each week, we will offer a Scripture reading, historic Quaker quotation, questions for consideration, and a personal essay from the Illuminate lesson for that week.

Scripture: Jeremiah 30:17

“Even though as Quakers we state and believe that all are created equal, often we must be reminded that we each do not access the Inner Light, or Christ within, in the same way. Some have a more difficult time than others surrendering to Christ.” –Bob Henry, Fruit of the Vine

Query: Are you willing and able to enter the place of surrender to God?

Another Country

He came.

There had been no gilt-edged invitation,

no pleading for His presence.

Love just wanted to drop in,

to surprise, as when He came

through locked doors.

His presence was comfortable,

needing no whys or wherefores,

and when He left,

an odor remained in the room,

proof of some other country.

–Carol Bialock, Coral Castles
