This Day: Visit us each day for a contemplative experience – an image, a Scripture reading, a quotation from Fruit of the Vine, a query, and a poem-prayer. On Saturday each week, we will feature an excerpted Quaker testimony. On Sunday each week, we will offer a Scripture reading, historic Quaker quotation, questions for consideration, and a personal essay from the Illuminate lesson for that week.

Scripture: Psalm 65

“Instead of responding to loneliness, God’s abundant love overflows and pours itself out continually in making more creatures to embrace with love. And creation responds to God’s loving touch with joy.” –Howard R. Macy, Fruit of the Vine

Query: How do you join with all nature in singing praise for God’s creation?

See-saw Moment

Once upon a see-saw moment

when the Breath blew strong

and red hats turned wise,

the angel of the Lord declared

unto a Mary-lover,

unto a lover of the poor:

and a forgotten continent

brought forth a new Peter,

lightly holding the keys

of an ever-new kingdom.

–Carol Bialock, Coral Castles
