Scripture: Nehemiah 8:9–12
“Since then, I’ve tested this theory, watching for moments, even hard ones, when I am fully awake to the experience of my own life. There – in sunsets and hospital rooms, with friends both laughing and crying – I am met with the deep grace of the Spirit, with joy.” –Bethany Lee, Fruit of the Vine
Query: Are you allowing God’s joy to be your strength today?
Water God
Seven years you have pounded my shore,
water God.
And I have sent your waves careening,
my rocks throw you in splitting spray
back to your ocean bed.
Today you court me again,
and my rock heart breaks in a thousand pebbles
at your touch,
and my shoreline opens to you unabashed,
waiting the onslaught of your love.
