Scripture: Psalm 52
“In Bible stories, villains sometimes end up becoming a hero, such as Saul (Paul) in the book of Acts (see Acts 8–9). Other villains meet their deserved doom in the story, such as Haman in the book of Esther (see Esther 7–9). The introduction of this psalm invites the reader to think about a villain who did not receive the punishment he deserved—Doeg the Edomite.” –Steve Mann, Fruit of the Vine
Query: Have you ever expressed your desire for vengeance or justice in prayer to God?
Leapfrogging
A frog leaped into my poem today.
“Kaploosh” in the water, and
“squish” onto land,
and back
and forth.
I did not know he was leapfrogging me into humanity,
that he was the humorous missing link
between water and earth in me,
making it all right to be woman,
to have a croaking good time
in both hemispheres.
So when I renew my baptismal vow this Easter
I just might throw a frog-party
to celebrate my newfound friendship with me.
