Oak Tree

This morning I thanked the oak tree in our front yard

for growing wide,

for its maternal branching out,

for taking us all on,

embracing, shading,

an enormous bird that spreads its wings

and flies rootedly, spaciously,

carrying us all to that country we have heard whispers of.
